Facial Oils vs. Serums

It seems a great time to quickly discuss the difference between our Grapeseed Facial Oils and Serums here at The Grapeseed Company! There has been more than one question as to what the differences between them are, so let's shed some light on the situation.

The facial oils are lighter- they aren't as rich in vitamins and antioxidants, have less ingredients overall, and are more quickly absorbed into the skin. They are great for both moisturizing (either worn alone or layered beneath a cream moisturizer or sunscreen) as well as for makeup removal, giving them even greater value for their price (just $18 for 2.3oz)!

The serums are also oil based,  however several differences exist. Our serums have been infused with herbs and flowers for 30 days, have stronger essential oils added in, and are more complex in the ingredients that they comprise of. Each of the serums have special qualities about them which make them more effective in targeted use for conditions such as age spots, sun damage, and blemishes in addition to being effective moisturizers that target fine lines and wrinkles ($30 for 2.3oz, $18 for 1.2oz).

Regardless of your preference, all of the facial oils and serums are packed with antioxidants like resveratrol from botanical ingredients such as grapeseed oil, are free of parabens/phthalates/sulfates/gluten, are vegan, never are tested on animals plus are naturally preserved with vitamin E. fresh from your kitchen: summer face smoothie

Summer fruits are a healthy choice to eat, and put on your skin! You'll need a blender to mix this "facial smoothie" the same way you would a smoothie drink.

Ingredients

½ C plain yogurt

1 T honey

2 strawberries

½ a peach

¼ C oatmeal

Directions

Pulse the oatmeal in the blender to make a paste. Add the yogurt and honey to your mixer. Cube the peach and cut the strawberries in half, toss them in, cap the blender and mix at a high setting until the “facial smoothie” has a creamy, smooth consistency.

Apply to your face in gentle, upward circular motions. Relax for 10-15 minutes. Scrub in upward motions into your face as you rinse off with warm water. Follow with The Grapeseed Co. Lavender Rose Toner and Chamomile Grapefruit Moisturizer or Rose & Grape Serum. If your skin is dry, sun damaged or mature, try layering the serum under the moisturizer for maximum benefits. What the Ingredients Do

yogurt: is nourishing, calming and hydrating to the skin. It contains a naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid from lactic acid that exfoliates and replenishes the cellular surface of the skin.

peach: is rich in vitamin A, C magnesium and potassium. Peach is know to brighten and even the complexion and replenish the skin as it tightens pores.

strawberries: are chock full of vitamin C and contain little round seeds that gently exfoliate the skin, naturally. They are rich in polyphenols, alpha-hydroxy which help protect, tone and soothe the skin.

honey: this sweet treat helps attract dirt, oil and clean skin with breakouts. Bees release a glucose enzyme when creating honey that is a natural antiseptic and has antibacterial properties. When applied topically, it draws body fluids and nutrients to the area assisting in cell growth and scar prevention.

oatmeal: is a natural, soothing exfoliant known for it's calming and anti-inflammatory properties. It also has astringent qualities but is gentle enough for sensitive skin. It helps to draw oil and impurities out of the skin.

Summer is shining it's beautiful rays upon us, but all that fun in the sun can wreak havoc on your skin between chlorine, salt water, sunscreen and the blazing rays.

After a wonderful time gathering with 35(!) of my extended family members on Cape Cod to celebrate our amazing grandparents 70 years of marriage, we took a smaller group up to the family lake house in New Hampshire for some fun "Auntie" time.
