Hanging up the Hair Dryer!

In a quest to save time and my hair, I've been working on greening my haircare routine, starting with saying "so long" to my blow dryer and flat iron. My hair is naturally curly/wavy, and for years I have been frustrated with battling the curly underneath and straight, sometimes stringy layers on top. This usually resulted in blow drying and straightening my hair when I wanted it to look good, and a pony tail, stringy curls or cute hat when I didn't care... here's a shot of my curls on what was a "good (pre-Ouidad) day"

A while back, I was chatting with a friend on twitter, Lisa, of @cactusandivy on this very subject. Lisa has very curly hair and let me in on her secret to looking fabulous! She turned me on to Ouidad, and from the products to the cut, I have seen a dramatic change in texture, look and feel of my hair.

Ouidad's products are gentle, moisturizing and paraben free, a personal requirement for any shampoo, and an important green choice to make when selecting hair and beauty products. After receiving an Ouidad cut, here are "after shots" of the new 'do

so....
adios blow dryer
sionara flat iron

I'm ready to rock my natural curls with the power of air drying and Ouidad!

Check out Ouidad products here

Thanks Lisa!

What have you done to green your hair or beauty routine?

  1. Wow, what a nice cut! It looks great, Kristin! My best friend has very curly hair and has always had the same frustrating time getting it cut properly. I'll need to share this Ouidad thing with her!

My "green routine" was giving up the hair color. I'm letting it go gray! Much easier to maintain and my hair is healthier.

  2. Woot Woot Kristin!! See.....I told ya! Your hair looks fabulous! I knew once you got the right cut for your curly hair, you'd be sold! I am now and will be forever a Ouidad gal! As a matter of fact, just got my hair "carved and sliced" today and I feel so much better! Awesome gal!!! Woo-hoo!!!

  3. Emily,
That's great. I've been trying to let go of the color thing too and just use natural lighteners in the sun. It's a big change, but you are right, when your hair is healthy, it's easier to maintain.

  4. Lisa,
Awesome gal! Glad to hear you did the drive too! It's so worth it. I've never paid that much for a cut before, but it was well worth it. Plus (as I justified to hubs) I'll need cuts less often b/c it was done right to begin with.
