fresh from your kitchen: salt water citrus hair spritz

This week I'm taking a "work-cation" and sailing the coast of Maine with my parents and husband. It's super hard to get away when you are a small biz owner with 2 brick and mortar locations as well as a wholesale and online business (not to mention we manufacture our products) but it's a necessity for sanity, stress management and the soul. I'm still spending a good 3-4 hours a day keeping up with running my business remotely, but getting that wonderful, relaxing and renewing time in a beautiful place with the people I love!
Funny enough, this getaway has sparked my creativity and the ideas are running wild...  I've been coming up with new business goals, writing and whipping up all sorts of simple beauty treatments from the ingredients we have in our galley (that's a kitchen on a boat) just like I use to 12 years ago when Pete and I spent 2 years living aboard a small sloop and sailing around the Caribbean. Ironically, that was where I first came up with the idea to start a natural bath & body company! I've come full circle here... life aboard a boat helps my creative fountain flow!

This is one of my favorite quick tricks to add natural highlights to blonde and brunette hair. It will take you a few minutes to whip up; grab a small spray bottle and mix a quick batch and use in your backyard or at the beach!

Salt Water Citrus Hair Spritz
3 oz salt water (I grabbed mine from the ocean, but your can mix a tsp of sea salt with hot water too)
1 tbsp lavender infused grapeseed oil
2 tbsp lemon juice or 10 drops lemon Essential Oil
Directions
Combine all ingredients to a spray bottle. As you probably already know, oil and water will separate, so shake well before applying or add a dropper of polysorbate 80 and shake to keep the spritz going for multiple uses. Spray on your hair avoiding the scalp; citrus oil can cause photosensitivity and you don't want to sunburn your scalp!

What it Does
Lemon and Sea Salt naturally lighten the hair with the help of the sunshine

Lavender Grapeseed Oil helps add moisture to your hair without making you look like a greaser. It will also help with great beachy wave texture and bring out your curl.

Enjoy!
